ABOUT ACUPUNCTURE?

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a system of medicine originating from China and the Far East, which has been used for thousands of years to help restore and maintain good health. It is a gentle form of treatment that focuses on treating the overall health and wellbeing of the individual, with treatment taking into account each person's individual symptoms.

Acupuncture supports the whole person by looking at the underlying root cause of the problem, as well as the presenting symptoms, and is used to treat a wide range of conditions such as: acute/chronic conditions, pain relief, headaches, stress, sleep problems, menstrual problems and many more.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture's underlying principle is that the body's functions are inter-dependent, and connected by the flow of energy (Qi) around the body through meridians. These energy meridians run along the entire length of the body where the acupuncture points are found. If the energy (Qi) becomes blocked, which can be caused by a variety of reasons e.g. through physical injury or emotions, this could disrupt the flow of energy (Qi), which may result in pain and/or illness.

Acupuncture is aimed at restoring and directing the flow of energy (Qi), triggering the body's own healing response.  Ultra fine acupuncture needles, which are sterilised and for single-use only, are inserted into selected points in the body where the Qi is found.
